Salt and Light Surf School: More Than Just Surfing

 Welcome to Salt and Light Surf School!

Hi, I’m Amber, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to the Salt and Light Surf School! Founded in 2023, this school is the culmination of a lifelong love for surfing that began when I rode my first wave at 15. That moment hooked me; it was pure magic which led me to start teaching surf lessons in 2016! Surfing has not only brought me immense joy but has also imparted invaluable life lessons both in and out of the water.

 The Meaning Behind Salt and Light

You might wonder why I chose the name “Salt and Light.” It’s a combination of two of my favorite things, and it carries deep meaning for me. The name comes from the Bible, specifically Matthew 5:13-16, where we are called to be the salt and light of the world. Just as salt enhances flavor and light dispels darkness, I believe in bringing flavor and brightness to my students' lives through surfing.

When we’re out in the salty ocean, soaking up the sun, it’s a reminder of how interconnected we are with nature and how it nurtures our spirit. Surfing, for me, is not just about riding waves; it’s an experience that fuels my soul and connects me with God’s creation. 

 What Sets Us Apart

At Salt and Light Surf School, we are set apart by our commitment to more than just teaching you how to surf. My mission is to share the pure joy of surfing with others and build a community centered around positivity and growth. I believe that everyone can learn to surf, regardless of their background or experience level. 

In my classes, I emphasize the life lessons surfing can teach us: patience, resilience, and the importance of getting back up after falling. These lessons extend beyond the ocean and can help navigate the challenges we face in life. In future blogs, I will share more about these insights and how they’ve shaped my journey.

My approach is tailored to each individual. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your technique, I ensure that every lesson is enjoyable, encouraging, and grounded in safety.
